Why structure

A room full of strangers doesn't gel on its own.

Most singles nights are a bar with a guest list. You show up, you talk to four people, three of them are the friends you arrived with, and you go home. It works for whoever the room happens to favour.

We run it on a bell. Everyone sits, everyone rotates, everyone gets seven uninterrupted minutes with every person on the other side. Nobody has to work up the nerve to cross a room — the room comes to you.

Two tickets, same side, any time

Seats are sold per side and capped independently, so the room always balances — one side is never more than three ahead of the other.

The Bestie Deal

Nobody's first instinct is to walk into a bar alone.

So bring someone. Two tickets on the same side, one checkout, $74 — less than two early birds and twenty under two standard seats, so it is always the cheapest way into the room. You arrive together, you're seated apart, and you have someone to debrief with on the way home. It's the single most common reason people don't buy a ticket, and it costs you ten dollars to solve.

Photos

Opt-in. Not opt-out.

Most events put a line in the terms saying you may appear in photos used for advertising, and leave it at that. We think that's backwards for a room full of people who haven't told their coworkers they're here.

Green lanyard — happy to be photographed. You might turn up on our page.

Plain lanyard — you're not in a single frame we keep. Not in wides, not in group shots, not in the background. If one slips through, it's deleted.

Nobody's face goes into a paid ad without being asked first, by name, after the event.

Questions

Before you buy

Who's in the room?

Ages 23 to 31, open to everyone, and capped so both sides stay even. That's a tighter band than most rooms in this city run, and deliberately so — nine years means the person across the table is somewhere near the same part of life as you.

Where is it?

A bar in central Vancouver. We hold the address until Nov 5 — one week out — then email it to everyone with a ticket, along with your side, your table and what time to arrive.

It's not a gimmick. Holding two rooms until we know how many of you there are is how we avoid running twenty-four people through a space built for a hundred.

What if the sides don't balance?

They will, because each side is sold separately and we never let one run more than three ahead of the other. If a late cancellation leaves you without a full set of rounds, you get a full refund or a free seat at the next event — your call, and we'll ask before the night, not after.

Refunds and transfers

Tickets are transferable up to 48 hours before doors — send us the new name and it's done, no fee. Inside 48 hours the seat is locked, because the rotation is built around a fixed count.

Full refunds if we cancel, move the date, or can't seat you. Beyond that, sales are final.

Do I have to drink?

No. It's a licensed room and the bar is open, but nothing about the format needs a drink in your hand. Plenty of people run the whole night on soda water.

What if I recognise someone?

Vancouver is small — it happens. Flag it when you buy your ticket and we'll route the rotation so you two never land at the same table. Takes thirty seconds and nobody else notices.

How do the matches actually work?

You get a numbered card at check-in. After each round you tick yes or no next to that person's number — they never see it. Cards go in a box at the end of the night.

By 10am Friday you get one email listing every mutual yes and the contact detail each of them chose to share. If there are none, you still get the email, and a code for the next event.

Twelve conversations, one Thursday.

Thursday November 12, doors 6:30pm, out by 10pm. Twelve seats per side per wave, and the price goes up when they're gone.
